Tulum, Coba & Akumal

This excursion is the second most popular among our clients after Chichén Itzá. The itinerary was originally designed by Mayan Riviera Tours, and no one offered it before — many agencies later adopted it due to its great success. It includes visits to two major archaeological sites, along with a snorkeling experience in the ultimate marine turtle sanctuary.

Swimming among turtles is simply breathtaking, and you’ll also have the chance to see a variety of colorful fish and possibly even manta rays.
The feedback from our clients on this tour is always extremely positive.

Information Tulum, Coba & Akumal

What do you visit on the Tulum tour?

Tulum, known in ancient times as (“sunrise” in Mayan), is the only archaeological site built directly on the Caribbean coast. It was a commercial, religious, and residential city for the Mayan elite and rulers. Its spectacular clifftop view overlooks turquoise waters and stunning beaches — an unforgettable spot in the Riviera Maya for nature and adventure lovers.

What do you visit in Cobá?

Cobá is home to Nohoch Mul, the tallest pyramid in Yucatán at 42 meters. Other highlights include the Coba Group, two Ball Courts, various stelae, and the ancient Sacbé (white roads). Spanning 75 km², it is one of the largest recovered Mayan cities and older than both Tulum and Chichén Itzá. The guided tour lasts about 2 hours, with the option to walk, rent a bike, or take a “Maya taxi” for a small fee.

What do you visit in Akumal?

Located on the world’s second-largest coral reef, Akumal means “place of turtles” in Mayan. It’s a natural sanctuary where you can snorkel with sea turtles, manta rays, and colorful tropical fish. This activity is suitable for all ages and does not require advanced swimming skills, and is always done under the supervision of a guide.

Pick-up from your hotel will be at approximately 6:30 a.m., with drop-off around 6:00 p.m. This excursion is operated by Mayan Riviera Tours.
