Much is said about safety in the Rivera Maya as practically newspapers and televised news mention the conditions in Mexico on a daily basis. It is true that for years the Mexican states at our northern border (Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas), across from the United States, have been living a difficult situation and that it is not recommended for tourists to visit. The Riviera Maya and Hotels at Rivera Maya are in a totally different situation, as we are over 2,500 kilometers (+1,500 miles) away from those northern states, it is a very calm region where our visitors can feel safe if they leave their hotel, can peacefully go shopping, ride public transportation, or stroll around at Quinta Avenida on Playa del Carmen. At night, it will not be less safe than any other European city.

During tour operator’s meetings, their representatives attempt to make the guests fearful by telling them that it is very dangerous to leave the hotel or take tours with agencies other than their hotel in Riviera Maya. Do not let yourself be frightened as they do this in an attempt to secure to themselves tours and activities for you.

Sadly, some people need to gossip and speak poorly about the area where we live, but as we mentioned in the beginning, safety at Riviera Maya, Riviera Maya Hotels, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, to list a few, is assured. It is very rare to hear, read or see in local media that a tourist has had complications.

We presently enjoy an amazing part of the world with privileged beaches and culture that anyone can experience without restrictions. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to visit the archaeological zones of Chichen Itza, Tulum, Ekbalam and Cobá, or the beaches of Xpu ha, Playa Paraíso or Playa del Carmen.

While in Riviera Maya, know and enjoy its beaches and culture without limitations. You well deserve it!!
